2025 Showed You're a Golf Super Fan

Jan 01, 2026 | Edition #244

 👋 Hey Golf Fans,

A very Happy New Year. As the calendar inevitably flips on another year, we want to take a moment to thank you for taking this journey with us. Essentially, Golf is what it is today because you read, supported, engaged, and most importantly, challenged us to upgrade our coverage.

So we have some special news for you. Yesterday we promised that today is going to be bigger and better, and here we are. If you ever wondered who your golf alter ego is, today is the time to find that out.

Let’s get swinging…

And as we look back on the year that has passed, a few things stood out to us. We’ve seen superfans who share the personality traits of the pros they love.  And guess what? You could share those traits, too. Not sure which player you match with? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Tiger Woods (The Immovable Force): Just like Tiger, you harbor a relentless drive. Locked in when you know what you want to achieve. In his prime, even fate bent to Woods’s will. How else do you explain Woods winning the 2008 U.S. Open while playing with a double-stress fracture in his left tibia and a torn left ACL?  Still, you probably know your body’s limits better than Tiger. But you hope to take the leap of faith and look fate square in the face. And perhaps that’s one trait you share with Tiger the most.

Rory McIlroy (The Dreamer): Rory’s last season embodied what a golfer’s “dreams are made of.” He had four major titles before age 25. But took him a toe-curling final round, after eleven years, to complete the career Grand Slam. It exposed his vulnerabilities, as you can see here. He has his demons, and he knows how to beat them. That’s where you mirror Rory. You battle your personal demons to rise to the top. And that’s what you always strive to do.

Scottie Scheffler (The Unbothered): Like Scottie, you come across as a humble family man and someone of deep faith. Just like him, you don’t like beating your own drum. Your only vice? Not knowing how to cook ravioli… (did you get the joke?). You’re clinical and calculative. Above all, you understand your family’s value in your life. Just like Scottie.

Jordan Spieth (The Free-Spirited): Like Spieth, you shine with authenticity amid automation. It’s not easy to mirror a lot of his behavior – because he presents himself with boyish innocence, which seems more genuine than manufactured. Just like Spieth, you keep on fighting. Despite injuries and despite consistent criticism. And you never lose the plot. You know you gotta have fun. Just like Spieth knew what he was doing when he sang a song (or jingle) on press conference.

Nelly Korda (The Effortless): Just like her, you prefer staying in a “bubble” just to avoid distractions. Nelly Korda does not balloon with ego despite such talent. And we suspect you do the same. It does not mean you don’t take pride in your work or the new drill you’ve mastered. But you don’t like to flaunt it. You also play fast, because that’s how golf is supposed to be.

Now that all the personality traits are laid out, we want to hear from you. Which one do you resonate with the most?

Expect more in-depth coverage from us during these events. In addition, there are a couple of interesting changes made across the major tours. Here is a quick glimpse:

Justin Thomas & more pros no longer want to engage in the PGA Tour-LIV merger discussion, proving the delay fatigue is real.

John Daly’s concerns about the treatment of the PGA Tour caddies highlight a startling problem in professional golf.

Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, and more pros at the LPGA are the reason behind the sparse visibility issue on the circuit. We’ve explained why.

It’s that time when last year’s regrets vanish like they never existed. Most embrace it. But Nelly Korda voiced mild regret over her winless season. However, she seemed to get over it when she rated her outfits – including that fan-favorite white skirt with a Nike shirt.

Charley Hull didn’t have any wild celebration like the Halloween (remember her bold look?), but she reflected on 2025, sharing favorite moments like beer-soaked celebrations for her third LPGA win. Here’s what you’re missing out on.

But you know who seems to have the most fun? Justin Thomas. The two-time major champion is spending time with his daughter. Just look at this cute, wide-eyed look one-year-old Molly copied from her dad!
