 👋 Hey Golf Fans,

Augusta National enforces some rigid rules, and breaking them can get you in trouble. Just ask the past major champion who got escorted off the course. We dive into that incident, talk about Gary Player sharing a… memorable moment with a patron, and ESPN facing backlash over the Masters experiment, and more.

Let’s get started…

Augusta National spares no one. Not even former major champions on guest invites.

The Masters now begins with a ceremonial tee shot, but that wasn’t always the case. The idea first came to co-founder Bobby Jones’s mind when amateur Francis Ouimet made the first shot at the 1941 Masters before withdrawing after round one. But the tradition did not officially begin until 1963, when Jock Hutchinson and Fred McLeod did the honors. Hutchinson continued it until 1973, and McLeod until 1976.
