👋 {{readername | Hey golf fans}},

Wyndham Clark prepares for this week’s U.S. Open, but still cannot help but talk about his past actions when prompted. Fans have ridiculed him for it, and Clark himself is seeking redemption. We talk in detail about his latest comments, one major champ’s proposal to punish LIV golfers who want a return to the Tour, Justin Thomas’s appreciation post, and more.

Hale Irwin at Winged Foot, 1974 U.S. Open

On June 16, 1974, the U.S. Open, dubbed “The Massacre at Winged Foot,” concluded with Hale Irwin claiming the first of his three U.S. Open titles. The tournament earned its grim nickname because Winged Foot played so brutally that Irwin’s winning total was 7-over-par. The USGA had set up the course that way intentionally, reacting to Johnny Miller’s final-round 63 that secured his 1973 U.S. Open victory.
