At the 1968 Masters, Roberto De Vicenzo signed a scorecard showing a 4 on the 17th hole instead of the 3 he actually made. Under the Rules of Golf, the higher score had to stand, so his total was recorded as 66 instead of 65. This error cost him a spot in a playoff with Bob Goalby, who won by one stroke.
