Mickelson Faces Damning Accusations

Nov 1, 2025 | Edition #219

 👋 Hey Golf Fans,

Halloween has come and gone, but the spooky vibes linger. Just like the new allegations of financial wrongdoing swirling around Phil Mickelson. We’ll dive into what’s known so far, discuss Gary Player’s tall claims, golfers’ Halloween celebrations, and much more in today’s edition.

Let’s get swinging…

Halloween Golf

After days of wrestling with piles of leaves and surviving a Halloween candy marathon, if you’re looking for something to freshen you up, grab your clubs and hit the golf course. Sounds counterintuitive? Absolutely not.

Halloween and golf make a perfect pair, and no, it’s not because weekend warriors get spooked whenever they look at their scorecard. Yes, Halloween is (somewhat) the opposite of golf. That’s patience, etiquette, and strict dress codes against … no rules. But that’s exactly why you have Halloween-themed tournaments and fundraisers, like the Halloween Hungover tournament that raises money for Mighty Millie Foundation’s fight against childhood cancer.

It’s also a time when you can actually relax without worrying about your handicap. You can sneak in a couple of rounds of mini golf, too. For the more adventurous among us, we’ve one such course that’s located beneath a funeral home.

Yes, you read that right. Welcome to Ahlgrim Acres, the coolest (and spookiest) mini golf course. Built beneath an actual funeral home, the nine-hole course has become a tourist attraction now. You really need to see it to believe that it actually exists!

So yes, you can jump on the Halloween bandwagon, let your hair down a bit, and defy those daunting, strict dress code rules. It’s probably the only time you’ll feel like a rebel, even if just for a few hours. Plus, with the year winding down, isn’t that a good use of your PTO?

And if you have booked your tee time in a local muni, good luck battling against evil bunkers, murky water hazards, and nearly impenetrable roughs (they tend to get nastier during Halloween week, or so we’ve been told).

Let This Sink In

Some seats are made for rest. But Coleman’s Low-Back Sherpa Chair is built for relaxation. Whether you’re unwinding after a long round or sitting by the fire in the evening, its ultra-soft Sherpa lining wraps you in warmth, while the low-profile frame keeps you close to the earth, right where you want to be. Lightweight, durable, and built for all-day lounging, it’s a chair that turns any outdoor spot into a retreat.

Now available at 30% off, it’s the perfect time to make your next weekend getaway a little more comfortable, because Coleman’s Sherpa Chair brings comfort anywhere the outdoors takes you.

Strange Tales

Plenty has transpired during Halloween week, and not everything has been fun. Here are your top three headlines that you missed.

Allegations: Phil Mickelson is mired in allegations of sharing insider information about Sable Offshore, an oil company, with some of its investors. Exclusive reports by Hunterbrook expose private group chats where Phil has reportedly divulged details of his call with CEO Jim Flores — a move that, if proven, could have the SEC reaching for its gavels. The accusations are so damning that Phil had to engage in a verbal spat to defend himself, as you can see here.

Bold: Jack Nicklaus is the greatest. Next is Tiger Woods. Right after him is Gary Player. No, not our claim — it’s Gary Player’s own. Recently, when asked to name his top three, that’s what the nine-time major winner said. He was quizzed about his late friend, Arnold Palmer, too. Arnie’s records aren’t close to his, said the 90-year-old. Player never shied away from making controversial claims. Perhaps that tendency to stir the pot was the real reason a major broadcaster once hung up on him on live TV while he was talking about Arnie. Watch the ridiculous moment below.

Star: At the Lady Blue Hen Invitational, Harvard sophomore Vanessa Zhang topped the individual leaderboard, helping the Crimson to a tied third-place finish at the final event of the fall season. Her 6-under 210 is not the real headline, though. She also reached a historic Harvard milestone. Care to guess what? Here’s your answer.

The golf community, however, is abuzz only with Gary Player’s tall claim. Let us know in today’s poll whether you agree with him or not.

Stamina

Endurance often becomes the difference between a good round and a shabby one. Without sufficient stamina, fatigue creeps in, errors multiply, and your scorecard reads 90. To avoid that, do this simple exercise every day.

  • Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Hold light dumbbells at your sides, keeping your chest up and core engaged.

  • Push your front knee forward by taking a longer step than usual. It should form a 90-degree angle, and your back knee should hover one or two inches above the ground.

  • Your front knee must move a little ahead of your toes. Pause for a second and then push back up, as golf fitness expert Jeff Pelizzaro demonstrates below.

Do 10 reps and then repeat the same movement with the other leg. Once you’re done with this exercise, here are three others to keep you golf-ready.

Rickie Fowler’s absence from the Tiger Woods-hosted Hero World Challenge caused quite a stir. Now we know the real reason he didn’t get the sponsor exemption.

LPGA rookie was penalized for slow play at the Maybank Championship, which might cost her a top-five finish. Perhaps the PGA Tour should take note.

Tyrrell Hatton admits to a troubling health decline affecting his game during the off-season. He confesses to feeling like “eighty” in a candid interview.

Wild Days

Halloween has zipped by, leaving behind a spooky aftermath of empty Reese’s wrappers and jaw-dropping costumes that deserve a second look. And yes, you can count on the golf world to give us that. Not just classic ghosts, there is a fierce (and sexy) feline, too. Just check out Charley Hull unleashing her wild side in this leopard-themed costume!

Is Hull hinting that she's ready to rule Halloween? Well, she’s got some pretty tough competition on her hands. There is the Koepka family’s space costumes or ‘Bryson the Cop’ — a cheeky nod to his fellow Dallas native, Scottie Scheffler, we guess

Nevertheless, the real challenge comes from Tony Finau’s family, decked out in Disney-inspired outfits that are so adorable, you’ll want to recreate the look next year. Check it out here. Who was the winner for you?
