Jack Nicklaus

On this date in 1940, Jack Nicklaus was born in Ohio. The Golden Bear debuted on the PGA Tour at the 1958 Rubber City Open, posting a T12 finish. Turning pro in 1961 and launching his full Tour career in 1962, he claimed his first major at the U.S. Open by defeating fan-favorite Arnold Palmer. Nicklaus amassed 117 professional victories while setting many records, including an unmatched 24-year span between his first and last major wins.
