  • 1923: The New York State Golf Association was officially established. The Garden City Golf Club hosted its first event on October 24, where 61 players teed off.

  • 1981: Larry Nelson beat Fuzzy Zoeller to win the PGA Championship by four strokes. Six years later, he repeated the feat, beating Lanny Wadkins in a playoff.

  • 2020: Collin Morikawa won his first major title at the PGA Championship. He defeated Paul Casey by two strokes.
