👋 Hey Golf Fans,
The late legend Lou Holtz always espoused three simple rules. Do the right thing. Do the best you can. And always show people that you care. Yesterday, one pro golfer did the right thing, did it the best way possible, and showed he cared about the game’s basic tenet: don’t cheat. That’s today’s biggest headline, followed by Phil’s message, Scottie’s confession, JT’s self-assessment, some quick trivia, and your daily game.
Let’s get started…

The 33-year-old golfer self-reported to a rules official, turning his par-save into a costly bogey.

On March 6, 1457, King James II issued a decree banning the game of golf. It is also the earliest recorded instance of the usage of the word ‘golf.’ By the mid-15th century, golf became so popular in Scotland that common people neglected other sports, such as archery. Or at least that’s what James II and his successors believed. The royal ban on golf was repeated in 1471 by his son, James III, and again in 1491 by his grandson, James IV.
