On September 14, 1865, Andrew Strath won The Open at Prestwick with a score of 162, two strokes ahead of Willie Park Sr. With this victory, Strath became the first golfer to break the Morris-Park duopoly. Interestingly, the 1865 iteration also saw the first use of official scorecards and the debut of Young Tom Morris, future four-time Open champion.

Shane Lowry’s drive on the 9th at the BMW PGA Championship strayed right, landing just behind the canopy of trees. From there, Lowry pulled off this audacious recovery shot.
