Rooting For Team USA Costs Four Figures

Sept 06, 2025 | Edition #193
👋 Hey Golf Fans,
Today is National Fight Procrastination Day. Which means it’s about time you tackled that pesky habit of putting things off until the last minute. So, let's bite the bullet and break the cycle. You've taken the first step by opening this newsletter. Now, stick with us till the end.
Onwards…

Greed

Many Americans will miss out on seeing the live action at Bethpage this month. Not everyone’s purse can accommodate a $750 ticket, after all. So the PGA of America thought they'd cash in on the spirit with party kits for those watching from home. Noble intention.
Except the ‘Ultimate Kit’ came with an ultimate price tag: $1,081.
Whereas the ‘At-Home Kit’ is priced at $343. Fans are… furious. Yesterday, we asked for your opinion on this matter. A whopping 97.46% of you called them overpriced. Most of you didn’t hold back, labeling the PGA of America "Greedy," and the price "Outrageous," and even a "Rip-off."
But it’s par for the course. The PGA of America seems to have developed a knack for pricing out fans. Ticket prices almost quadrupled compared to the 2021 iteration. The very predictable and equally banal defense was that all tickets were ‘sold out.’ But guess what? Those ‘sold-out’ $750 tickets popped up on the resale market at twice the price.
In fact, the PGA of America actually linked to them in their official emails. Unbelievable? Well, here is your proof.
That created a whole lot of noise. Not that it changed anything. But it’s evident that the PGA of America made an astronomical misfire with the fan kit, too. It looks even more grotesque when you compare it to the ‘Taste of The Masters’ kit.
BBQ potato chips, iconic Pimento Cheese, egg salad, branded coasters, and more — part of the Large Hosting Kit — came at $185. A fraction of what the folks at Frisco thought Ryder Cup kit is worth.
It should not be this expensive to be a Team USA fan.

One Smooth Drive
Ever wished you could drive the ball like Rory or Scottie? With the TaylorMade Qi10 Driver, you can! Now, we’re not saying you’ll be able to hit 320+ yard bombs. But the club is designed for more forgiveness, which means more fairways hit, more confidence off the tee, and a game that feels just a little easier.
The best part? It’s now on sale for a flat 33% off for a limited time. And that’s just one of the benefits! Here are more:
Forgiving Design: Larger sweet spot for straighter shots, even on mishits
Carbon Face Technology: Lightweight strength for explosive distance
Optimized Launch & Spin: More carry, more control, more fairways
Because every swing deserves some reward... even those off ones.

Casting Doubt

Every Ryder Cup cycle, a major winner snatches an automatic spot. And then cools off. Last time, it was Wyndham Clark, who brought home only one point from a possible three. This time, is it Xander Schauffele? Two majors in 2024 raised hope. But lately, his form has been unpredictable. And his choices? Even more so.
No, it’s not because of his baffling decision to dig into tree roots to save a stroke like he did here. Or the secrecy behind his rib cage injury despite advocating for more transparency. The concern comes from his absence at the Procore Championship.
10 of 12 Americans made it to Napa for a final Ryder Cup warm-up. As was Captain Keegan Bradley’s order (in the form of a request, of course). Bryson won’t make it for obvious reasons. But Xander’s absence is surprising. Is it because he is tired of “playing like ass”? Not our words. Xander himself delivered a brutal verdict on himself only days back, as you can watch below:
He also missed the Tour Championship. Which figures considering he has only three top tens this season. More telling are these numbers:
Driving: 149th in accuracy (53.83%), 85th in SG: Off the Tee (-0.076)
GIR: 83rd (66.39%)
Putting: 129th in SG: Putting (-1.787)
Obviously, you don’t need any added motivation to give your all at the Ryder Cup. But even if someone needs, they should check the all-time point difference between Team USA and Team Europe.
It might’ve been different, but our boys lost their mojo the moment they stepped into Rome. Including Xander. He arrived after a long break and came back with a 1-3-0 record. Not a good precedent, and all the more reason Xander should’ve polished his clubs one last time before heading to Bethpage.

Thursday’s Results: 71.67% of you thought Europeans can keep their nerve despite Bethpage Black crowd pressure.

Towel Toil

Putting is tossing you around like a rag doll? The culprit is your pesky putter face opening up too much at impact. You've likely tried every gimmick to fix that—maybe even this bizarre ‘Snail’ putting of PGA Tour pro, Mark Hubbard. To no avail. Here’s a simple towel drill to fix that:
Position: Roll up a towel and place it under the inside of both feet, with your toes and heels resting evenly on either side for balance.
Balance: Stand still with your weight evenly distributed between your toes and heels. Maintain stillness in your legs and head as you make smooth, controlled putting strokes.
Focus: After hitting several putts, focus on tracking the ball with your eyes only. Keep your head still to improve alignment. Watch renowned golf coach Danny Maude demonstrating it below:
Keep working on staying steady and in control. And when you’re ready to take it further, we've got more putting tips to help you sink putts and lower your scores.

Dear Agony

Golf cart mishaps aren't supposed to be part of the game plan. But when a cart breaks free from its driver — like this renegade one in a PGA Tour event — it becomes an ill-timed crash course. Such incidents deserve their own tongue-in-cheek award. ‘Bogeys on Wheels’ is our suggestion. And we may have a strong contender for that.
Everything was going normally for this guy. Except his cart decided to go for a swim in the water hazard. Quite naturally, the young man lost his head, and a volcano of rage burst out as you can watch, hear, and feel. It was caught live on camera thanks to a father-son duo from the other side of the pond. Noticed the old man’s zen-like response amid all the chaos? Even Scottie Scheffler would tip his hat to his nonchalance.
But for our young friend, it’s a costly day on the green.
