Rory Pulls Off Another Miracle

 👋 Hey Golf Fans,

The Irish Open is over, and so is Rory McIlroy’s search for his victory since the Masters. The Ulsterman and his countless fans produced a moment that brought back memories from the Tiger era. We’ll take a deeper look at that. Then, some key moments from the week, and an important Rory-approved drill to get your game right.

Onwards…

Box Office

Rory likes to keep his fans on edge. Especially on a Sunday. Starting four shots off the leader, McIlroy needed some magic, a bit of luck, and at least one miracle. In the end, he had all three. And some more. On the 9th, a spectacular pitch from the rough set Rory up for a birdie. Magic! On the 13th, his 6-foot birdie putt took a 360-degree swerve around the cup and then dropped in. Luck!

Then came the par-5 18th. Rory needed an eagle to tie leader Joakim Lagergren at 17-under. The Ulsterman’s approach stopped 28 feet short. Rory took a measured swing with the flatstick. The ball answered the call of destiny. A playoff. A miracle!

And the crowd went nuts, erupting in mayhem that will leave your eardrums ringing for a long time. Just watch live the moment here at your own risk.

Credit to Joakim for keeping his nerve in the first two playoff holes despite the hostile crowd. But eventually, the Swede buckled on the third playoff hole, sailing his approach into the water, while McIlroy closed it out with a composed birdie.

A second Irish Open title after 2016.

A fitting homecoming.

After Harry Bradshaw (1947 and 1949), Rory is only the second Irishman in the 98-year history of the Irish Open to lift that silverware twice. He is now tied for 10th on the all-time DPWT winners’ list with 20 titles under his belt.

P.S.: Rory actually kicked things off by flaunting his Green Jacket on Thursday. Talk about flexing. He is bursting with confidence before the Ryder Cup, and he is not hiding it!

How 433 Investors Unlocked 400X Return Potential

Institutional investors back startups to unlock outsized returns. Regular investors have to wait. But not anymore. Thanks to regulatory updates, some companies are doing things differently.

Take Revolut. In 2016, 433 regular people invested an average of $2,730. Today? They got a 400X buyout offer from the company, as Revolut’s valuation increased 89,900% in the same timeframe.

Founded by a former Zillow exec, Pacaso’s co-ownership tech reshapes the $1.3T vacation home market. They’ve earned $110M+ in gross profit to date, including 41% YoY growth in 2024 alone. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

The same institutional investors behind Uber, Venmo, and eBay backed Pacaso. And you can join them. But not for long. Pacaso’s investment opportunity ends September 18.

Melting Pot

The Irish Open eruption might still be ringing in your ears. But hey, Team USA defended the Walker Cup, and our boys were no less loud, as you can see here. Here are five more such moments that flew under your radar this week:

Backfire: Bryson DeChambeau stopped by Cypress Point to give America’s young guns a pep talk. Unfortunately, his attire for the special occasion landed him in controversy — check it out here.

Swagger: Mason Howell qualified for the Walker Cup thanks to his U.S. Amateur triumph. It was his debut, but the youngster didn't crack under the pressure. Instead, he finished off with a 3-and-1 victory in the Sunday foursome, with a dunked eagle hole-out. We present you the most brilliant shot of the Walker Cup and an equally fitting celebration:

Stop it: What Angel Hidalgo did to make a putt would leave even the most vocal AimPoint defenders screaming in agony. Guess the total time he (and his caddie) took to read the putt… and still miss it. Well, here is your answer to that.

Fore, please!: Paul McGinley and Iona Stephen never thought their broadcasting job would land them close to freak injuries. But it’s golf, and balls can fly from any direction. Although one of them took a cheeky jab to lighten the mood, check how dangerously close they were to a serious accident.

Cypress envy: Warm sunshine. Ocean breeze. Symphony of crashing waves and seagulls. The feeling of walking from the 14th green to the 15th tee at Cypress Point is unparalleled. Words can’t explain it — so savor the beauty through this amazing drone video.

Well, that pretty much wraps up the week for you. But before we move to Rory’s special drill, we have a question for you:

Do You Think the Walker Cup Should be USA vs. Europe Instead of GB&I?

Rory’s Secret

Rory McIlroy led the field this week in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee (+1.89). Just watch him unleash this monster drive with perfect accuracy. Driving has been McIlroy’s forte, and this split-hand drill has helped him maintain this staggering consistency:

  1. Place your lead hand on top of the grip. Then position your trail hand lower down the shaft. There should be a wide gap between the two.

  2. When your clubhead reaches the top, your trail arm should stay parallel to your torso, and not drift behind it.

  3. Similarly, in the downswing, the trail elbow must stay in front of your chest, not stuck behind your body. Exactly as Rory demonstrates here:

This drill helps you maintain proper arm position throughout. Take two or three practice swings before the actual shot. And that’s just one of many Rory-approved drills. You can find more advanced techniques in the tutorial below:

Shake It Up

Did you know that according to Harvard Health, Americans consume a staggering 77 grams of sugar daily? That's 20 teaspoons a day and 60 pounds of added sugar per year. Ironically, some of that comes via health drinks, namely protein shakes — a very popular beverage we bring to the course. But the good news is: there are simple ways to clean up your shake game.

Blend half a cup of diced pineapple, 1/4 cup of unsweetened coconut flakes, and 1/4 cup of organic whey protein. Then add a splash of pineapple juice and coconut milk, and a drizzle of Torani coconut with pineapple syrup. Mix it up for 30 seconds to one minute, and you are good to go. For an extra-thick and frosty treat, toss in some ice. And if you want something more, we’ve got you just the recipe for it.
