👋 {{readername | Hey, golf fans}},

We guess most of us had seen it coming. Scottie Scheffler heading into the final round with a lead and not winning seemed like an impossible thing. Not only did he prove us right, but he did so by increasing that lead to eight shots. No one caught up to him, and you’ll get to find that out in this edition. Meanwhile, we have multiple other winners to talk about, plus a scorecard check by a toddler, an insane bounce, and, oh, our weekly leaderboard update.

Let’s get swinging…

Egyptian pharaohs wore groomed mustaches to show wisdom and authority. Mesopotamian kings had them for distinction and status. Scottie Scheffler (-13/1st), though, sees it as a sign he is going to win again. Just four days after calling Ted Scott’s mustache “stupid,” Scheffler issued an ultimatum in case Scott gets rid of it—watch him laugh about it.

Mustaches or not, Sunday was all Scottie’s doing.

Though Scheffler started poorly with a bogey on the third, he bounced back with consecutive birdies on the fifth and the sixth. His lead grew from two to four to eight at Memphis, where he made his professional debut—check it out here.

It helped that his nearest competitors didn’t have their best stuff. Close friend Sam Burns (-8/T3) stumbled with a Sunday 73, and Sungjae Im (-7/T5) shot a final-round 74. Si Woo Kim (-9/2nd) rose four spots but finished eight shots behind, giving Scheffler his 10th victory by four or more shots.

And, as soon as his last putt dropped, his wife, Meredith, with their toddlers came rushing in. Watch the heartwarming moment here.

  • Scottie has the most PGA Tour wins (21) in the last five years.

  • He has the fourth most consecutive multiple-win seasons (2022-26) in the last 40 years.

  • Ties for the second-most PGA Tour wins with eight strokes or more in the last 40 years.

  • Becomes the third-youngest player to win 21 PGA Tour titles.

  • Sungjae Im is the only player to move into the top 50 for this week’s BMW Championship.

Scottie Scheffler leads the FedExCup Standings after winning the FedEx St. Jude Championship. But by how many points? Fewer than 13% of our readers got it correct.

Cutest check: Si Woo Kim (-9/2nd) had to call in his son to double-check his scorecard. It’s the most adorable video you’ll see today.

Most insane: Keith Mitchell (-1/T34) went barefoot, rolled up his trousers, and waded into the water to play a shot from the 18th. The ball hooked left—and look where it ended up.

Near magic: Ever seen a bounce that made you question reality? Ryo Hisatsune’s (+3/T52) ball bounced over the bunkers to give him this lie.

Crazy: John Daly II (-1/MC), out of nowhere, holed a shot so audacious it surprised everyone. Watch his reaction afterward.

Grit: Rose Zhang (-15/T8) had just come off a checkup for a back injury when she calmly drained this long birdie putt. How cool is that?

Last Poll Result: 74.62% of you correctly predicted Scottie Scheffler would come out on top at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Portland Classic: Jeeno Thitikul (-22/1st) became just the eighth LPGA player since 1980 to rack up 10 or more titles before turning 24. She closed one clear of Arpichaya Yubol (-21/T2) and Chanettee Wannasaen (-21/T2) to secure her third win of the season. But if anyone had to be beaten here, it was Jeeno herself. Here’s why.

U.S. Amateur: Jack Whaley defeated Jay Leng Jr. to become only the third Englishman to lift the Havemeyer Trophy and the first in 13 years since Matt Fitzpatrick. Most importantly, he did it with his father, Andy, on the bag. He was terrified of letting his dad down, as you can see here.

Albertsons Boise Open: Ross Steelman (-21/1st) claimed his second Korn Ferry Tour title in just five starts, winning by three shots. He’s now TourBound. He once hunted down his putter and three shafts on eBay with only one goal: making it to the PGA Tour.

Boeing Classic: Someone really needs to put a leash on Stewart Cink (-12/1st), who just edged Miguel Angel Jimenez (2nd) on the first playoff hole for his fifth title of the season. Just take a look at this—you’ll want him to play on the PGA Tour again.

We return with our Essentially Golf leaderboard, where we rank players on a week-by-week basis. Here’s the latest update.

  • Scottie Scheffler (9⬆️): He almost had us scared after his shot bounced off a sprinkler head and into the water. But Scottie’s been consistent the whole season. Now, he has a second title.

  • Nelly Korda (1⬇️): Just like Scottie, she’s been consistent the entire season. But Nelly needs to play more to stay atop the leaderboard.

  • Jeeno Thitikul (13⬆️): Jeeno had the kind of win that deserves this kind of celebration. Her come-from-behind win has pushed her to the top-3 for the first time.

  • Si Woo Kim (13⬆️): Kim admitted he wanted to win badly at Memphis, as you can see here. He’s been very consistent, with 21 made cuts and six top-fives.

  • Charley Hull (2⬇️): Hull hasn’t played much in recent weeks, and other players have performed well enough to push her out of the top five.
