On July 1, 1961, Mickey Wright defeated defending champion Betsy Rawls by six strokes for her third of four U.S. Women’s Open titles. This was her third win in four years and sixth of her eventual thirteen major titles. Some 46 years later, on the same day, Cristie Kerr registered a two-stroke win over Lorena Ochoa and Angela Park. This was Kerr’s maiden major and 10th win on the Tour.
