Mark O'Maera

On January 13, 1957, Hall of Famer Mark O'Meara was born in Goldsboro. He turned pro in 1980, amassing 34 professional victories, including 16 on the PGA Tour and 3 on the PGA Tour Champions. O'Meara's greatest season came late at age 41 in 1998, when he claimed two majors, the Masters and The Open Championship. To this day, he is the oldest player to win two majors in a single year. O'Meara retired in 2024.
