On July 13, 1937, Charles Coody, winner of the 1971 Masters, was born in Stamford, Texas. The eight-time PGA Tour winner represented Team USA at the 1971 Ryder Cup and won the 1971 World Series of Golf and two tournaments on the European Circuit. Coody was inducted into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame in 1980. His two grandsons, Pierceson and Parker, play in the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour, respectively.
