On February 6, 1971, astronaut Alan Shepard hit the first golf shot on the moon. Shepard, an avid golfer, asked River Oaks Country Club pro Jack Harden to build him a modified club. The Wilson Staff Dyna-Power 6-iron club head was tucked in his space suit, and a few golf balls were hidden inside his socks. After completing all the experiments, Shepard fit his ironhead to a tool and hit a few shots. Of course, there was no way to know where the balls ended up. |
