Xander Wins Big For His Family

Oct 13, 2025 | Edition #211

 👋 Hey Golf Fans,

Xander Schauffele has finally sealed the deal! After 80 rounds (sans Olympics and Ryder Cup) and 5,517 strokes (yes, we counted), he's holding onto his 10th PGA Tour title. We’ll dive into the many records he made, Jeeno Thitikul’s victory, a strange tee shot, and more in today’s edition.

Let’s get swinging…

Returning to Roots

What Xander Schauffele has done as of late – and, let’s face it, he’s done plenty in recent times – has been nothing short of charming. Yes, he has spent most of the season playing the game of catch-up, but let’s not be a buzzkill. Especially after his 7-under 64 yesterday to snap his title drought.

At the Baycurrent Classic, Schauffele was locked in a three-way tie with Max Greyserman and Michael Thorbjornsen through nine holes. The pivotal moment came at the 507-yard par-4 14th. Schauffele drained a 22-footer for birdie and the lead. Greyserman and Thorbjornsen could only save par.

Greyserman, however, refused to fold, conjuring a beautiful approach on the 18th to set up a tap-in birdie. But Schauffele did one better. His birdie on the penultimate hole shrugged off any threat from Greyserman. A comfortable par-save on the 18th, and Schauffele was a winner again in Japan.

The victory was special because of his ties with the country. How special, you ask? Just check this picture to understand why Schauffele was enjoying ‘home’ support in a country 5000 miles away from the USA.

Schauffele also became:

  • First player since 2016 to win on 200th Tour start.

  • The 119th Tour player to win his 10th event.

  • 4th player since 2000 to hit every fairway and 16 or more GIR in the final round of a PGA Tour win.

Xander's 2025 was shaky, but. The rib injury didn’t allow a return to his past form. Yes, he showed up at Bethpage. But on the PGA Tour, he could manage only 4 top-10s and no titles. Until Japan.

Quite fitting considering his mother and grandmother were born and raised there. His extended family members were cheering for him. And Xander showed up. For himself and his family.

Mini Masseur

Every golfer knows the feeling of post-round tightness in their back. Yes, pros too. That’s why stars like Collin Morikawa carry around a Theragun Mini in their bags. Its ergonomic design and quiet precision motor make it a breeze to use, while the three speed settings let you tailor every session to what your body needs.

It’s small, light, and easy to carry, and right now is even on sale for a flat 23% off! So, grab yours quick and slip it into your golf bag, suitcase, or even your car!

Grit

Xander Schauffele's win was only one of the thrilling moments from last week. Here are the other important updates you definitely missed:

Comeback: Bogey. Double bogey. That’s how Jeeno Thitikul started Buick LPGA Shanghai. But on Sunday, the World No.1 stormed back from 4 shots down with 5 holes to play to force a playoff with Minami Katsu. Both parred the first four holes, but then Jeeeno unleashed a jaw-dropping shot to become this season’s first repeat winner. You won’t get to see this every week, so enjoy it here.

Slim: Ever seen your partner’s ball hit yours? Off the tee? From 310 yards? Yeah, it’s almost unheard of, but that’s exactly what happened on the DP World Tour this week. This moment is too wild to miss.

Smoky: The top 20 players on the 2025 KFT Points List earned their stripes (aka the Tour card) following the Korn Ferry Tour Championship. Chandler Blanchet won the event, but Johnny Keefer topped the standings, with Neal Shipley and Pierceson Coody among the graduates. Their celebration? Let’s just say it would’ve made John Daly proud. Check out the special moment here.

Crash: A private jet overshot the runway at Bowman Field and came to rest on the Seneca Golf Course—roughly 370 feet beyond the tarmac. Watch the shocking incident here.

Unstoppable: Dan Brown’s solo second at the Open de España tells only half the story. Battling severe neck pain, he was forced to lie flat on the ground mid-round as a physio worked on him. Guess what he did next? This moment tells the story of sheer willpower.

That wraps up the week. The PGA Tour will return to the USA with the Bank of Utah Championship, while the LPGA Tour continues the East Asia trip with a stop in South Korea.

Rip It

The secret to hitting bombs lies in high launch and low spin. Exactly what Tiger Woods did in this clip, leaving Fleetwood and McIlroy visibly stunned. Notice their faces when Tiger lets it rip. Today, we've got three tips from Big Cat himself that help you gain an extra 10-20 yards:

  • Tee the ball higher and position it forward in your stance, about half a ball ahead. This will allow an upward strike through impact.

  • Drive through your trail leg and shift your weight into your lead side. That builds the explosive base Tiger uses while keeping his upper body behind the ball.

  • Rather than trying to get ahead of the ball, aim to swing on an ascending path. Strike the ball on the upswing to maximize launch and carry distance. Let Woods show you how:

That’s how you transfer energy efficiently, gain more clubhead speed, and launch it high. And once you’ve nailed that, try Tiger’s other tips to elevate your game.

Sergio Garcia sounds frustrated about his million-dollar DP World Tour fine that still blocks him from reviving his dreams.

Keegan Bradley is blamed for ‘sucking the life out of a broadcaster’ with his controversial pre-shot routine.

Tree Shot

Okay, we all have hit bad shots. Shanks? Yeah, that too. But what Joey Coldcuts of Bob Does Sports pulled off deserves a separate award. Tree-hugger, maybe? Okay, so during a recent episode with Akshay Bhatia, Coldcuts ripped his drive like he never did before. Unfortunately, his clubhead was clearly off-angle. The result? This blunderous shot that had us (and his teammates) rolling on the floor.

Now, you might think what the team lacks in driving must make up for in putting. WRONG. We won’t say much… just watch and judge this putt (should we even call it that?) for yourself. Yes, we are not pro golfers, and have had pretty horrendous breaks too. But on most days, we putt better.
